Headlights for Dinner
Dismantled the bumper, got the headlight out and the HID unit - which was full of water. Headlight has some condensation in it, and hairdryering it hasn't done much, so I am taking it apart to give it a proper drying out, and to get the dead spider out of it....
Currently cooking my O/S headlight in the oven at 225 degrees
And I am bricking myself!!!
4 minutes to go
You think it will be ok?

Yes it's well known put them in the oven to open them up
(clearing corners in the USA)
Well i got them apart ok, and dried out a treat!
Putting them back together was more difficult
Especially so as when i put them back in to heat the old silicon seal, before adding my own sealent and putting them together, i managed to slightly melt the top of the rear part of the unit
So it ended up a little mis-shaped. ah well, got it back on the car and it is a bit off, but it will do as a temp fix until i get a new O/S headlamp now.

You didn't need to split it!
I had this on my old S.
All you had to do was warm it up on a radiator or in the oven (not cook it
) to drive the moisture off. Then seal over the failed seal all round the unit with an epoxy glue!

I'd like to clear mine but it's not that simple on the 04's
