Default Headunit advice...

About time I looked into a proper one

First one is about Kenwood. Ive always had Kenwood mask stuff in the past, but I presume this wont work on the S due to the space? Think the motorised face will be fouled by the gearbox tunnel / radio door?

Second, has anyone tried a DAB headunit? I listen to the radio a lot so this might be good. Dont like the idea of the DAB ariel though. Any good ones?

Last, do all the Alpine units fit? I dont think any of them are motorised so should be ok?!

Ta,

I've got an old Kenwood Mask MD player in mine.

Have to leave the radio flap open as the rotating mask would not be able to spin all the way round. No problem with the gearbox tunnel though.

Other problem I had was that this HU has a small metal box attached to the back bywome wire. I think its something to do with the power supply. This was a pain to fit as there is so little room behind the HU.

Pic here...

I'm a fan of Pioneer, best bet is to go to a good car audio place and see what they suggest. It will come down to how much you want to spend in the end though.

I've got the Blaupunkt Woodstock DAB54 and it's fruppin' brilliant - with a stick-on-inside-of-windscreen aerial that you just don't notice.

Gets the big thumbs up from me

Blaupunkt still make the best Radio units, and there CD play back is nicely laid back.

The Alpine's have interface cables off the self for the S, but are a little synthetic in the sound for my tastes. Radios are OK but not a patch on the Bluespots.

Pioneer did make one of the best 'Audiophile' introduction models on the market with the Pioneer DEH-P 77MP but that been droped now i think

Also take a look at the 'Becker Mexico Pro' range not DAB but have very good Tuner performace.

Thanks Ruckus,

Im my old age of 27, im beginning to shy away from all the bright flashing lights, so the Blaupunkt might be the way to go

Obviously I'm biased, but the Blaupunkt *is* a top stereo
