Default Hello

Hi everybody! (Hi Dr. Nick...!)

(Very) long time lurker, first time poster here! Thought I'd just post a quick hello to you all. I've wanted an S2000 since the first time I laid my eyes on one back in '99, and now finally I am in a position to own my dream car
A little bit about me, I'm 27 living in Fleet, Hampshire, and have been a car nut since the year dot. My car history is as follows; '89 Polo 1.0 , '93 Clio RSi, '98 200sx S14a (spent a lot of time and money on this, ended up with ~270bhp. It was my baby and I regret selling it - but a house purchase forced my hand there), '00 MR2 roadster, and finally a '01 Golf V6 4Motion which the new owner is collecting on Saturday. Oh and I bought a '00 Seicento a month ago to tide me over between selling the Golf and buying an S, which I may now keep as a commuting beater as it is so cheap to run.
My friend had an early S2000 about 5 years ago which I was lucky enough to have a few drives in on both road and track. It was every bit as good as I dreamt it would be and it kept the flame burning strongly to this day!
So I am now on the look out for a MY02/3 in black or dark blue (Monte Carlo?) with sensible mileage. My budget is around £7.5k, and from what I've seen on Pistonheads and Autotrader I should be able to get what I want for that. One question for you guys - does the season tend affect the values much on the S? I've waited long enough already to get this car, so waiting another couple of months isn't going to kill me if I'm going to get more for my money!
I've just realised I've pretty much written an essay there so if you're still reading, thanks and hi again!

Welcome and good luck with the search.

To answer your question, over the couple of years I've been here, the seasons haven't had anywhere near as big an effect on prices as the financial climate, so making a judgement is difficult. I guess demand is less during the winter, and starts to pick up in Spring, so it's possible that sellers would be more flexible during the winter months I await correction by someone more knowledgable

Before you buy, it's really worth reading the FAQ here (if you haven't already)https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=301506 , it's a great guide to what to ask a seller to minimise potential problems later on.

Hello and welcome. A little known fact for you, Monte Carlo Blues have around 20bhp more than any other colour

Welcome.
If you're in Fleet then you have one of the best independent specialists (for servicing) right on your doorstep, TGM.

Good time of year to start looking, check the FS section on here, RTFFAQ and please read the threads about s20004u before you even think of going to see them.
