Unhappy Hello all!

Hello all,

I'm Dean, I have just joined after lurking for a few weeks. I was wondering if anybody on here could give me a good insight into S2K ownership from all angles?

I'm contemplating on trading my TT 225 Coupe (be nice!) for an S2000. I consider myself a petrol head, and I want more out of my car's than what the TT offers (The TT was bought after an S3). OK, its great looking, comfortable and fast (when remapped), its also fantastic in the wet, but it lacks the overall buzz of driving. This is why Im looking at an S2k, Its a proper car that talks to you when you drive, you can feel what its doing, you tell it what to do. Whereas the TT, just drives you, and when driving "fast" you just can't tell where the limit is , you can make them better, but its big bucks!

Has anybody made this change? I know they are completely different animals and so was wondering if I'd miss the security/ergonomics/Comfort levels and high specs, if I was to swap over to the dark side?

My main concerns are these:
[LIST][*] Are they as bad say, as a TVR (although I guess the lack of torque means it won't be as bad)in the wet, do they just snap out of control, I've heard horror stories of aquaplaning.[*] Comfort levels. Not ever driven an S2k but I imagine on long journeys its not as "supple" as the TT and wind noise could be a big factor here (roof up).[*] Spec. I'm really going to miss my heated leather, BOSE stereo etc[*] Build Quality and Ergonomics. You have to hand it to the Germans, the interior on the TT is fab compared to the S2k[*] Service prices and intervals, what are they liked compared to Audi? I'm guessing cheaper,

I went from one of these ...

to one of these ...

... and loved both of them. Yes, the TVR had loads of low down grunt but then it didn't rev to 9,000 rpm. Both fun cars in their own way, and the Honda build quality is pretty reassuring.

Have you test driven one yet?

Run a search for S2000uk-4u on this site before visiting. Many different opinions on them, unfortunatley the majority are not very good.

I have a 2001 MCB S for sale. Without my 18"bbs le mans I'm looking for

Your S is exactly what I'm after, but its a bit out of budget for me at the mo. Looking at the prices of S2k's I may need to wait a year for residuals to drop further.
At that budjet consider an import. The Pound against the Yen is very much in your favour.

I used to own a JDM and they are slighly quicker than the UK models, certainly more of a punch when you hit v-tec.

They are not great in the rain on (pre 04) OEM tyres as they don't have much in the way of rain chanels. Back end tends to be a bit snappy and catches a lot of people out. A bit of training on an airfield and you'll get the hang of what to expect if it happens on the road.
[*] Comfort levels. Not ever driven an S2k but I imagine on long journeys its not as "supple" as the TT and wind noise could be a big factor here (roof up).

I was surprised how comfortable the car was to drive 400+ miles up to Scotland.

No you won't
[*] Build Quality and Ergonomics. You have to hand it to the Germans, the interior on the TT is fab compared to the S2k

Japanese build quality is superior to that of the Germans .... remember the Audi TT was designed to look nice ..... most S2000 owners on here couldn't give a feck about the interior.
[*] Service prices and intervals, what are they liked compared to Audi? I'm guessing cheaper,

Dean, at the bottom of the UK forum there is a "Search this forum" box, this is the best way to search

https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=275427

That's what you need

50/50 good/bad. Be cautious like you would with any second hand car dealer And check everything with us
