Default Hello from Dan

Hi everyone,

This is my first post on this forum.

I’ve been thinking about purchasing an s2000 for a few months now so I thought it was about time I said hello. I’m sure this is a great resource for advice and car banter!

I currently own a Clio 172 and have done so for a few years now. It’s got a high mileage now having spent most of its life as a commuter car. I don’t really put much money into it as I’m pretty sick of continuous electrical faults that “only Renault can fix”. It’s time for something fast and fun but reliable!

Although my daily drive is shameful, I am lucky enough to own a Honda CBR600RR for the sunny days. I don’t get on it half as much as I should but it sure is great fun and has never let me down.

I’ve seen several s2000s in the past and think they look fab on the road but to this day I’ve still not been out in one yet. I’ll be trying to far a car dealer with one in stock over the next few weeks to take it out for a test drive and check I feel happy driving it. I also need to make sure I can see over the dash and reach the pedals! lol

My previous cars include a MkII MR2 and Rx-7 FD so I’m quite confident I know what to expect with the Honda.

When it comes to searching for the car that’s a different matter. I’m fairly sure it would have to be silver or black but I’m still arguing with myself over the pre-facelift vs post-facelift debate.

Dan

Someone will burn you for the AP2 thing. In the uk its facelift and pre facelift, Same engine in both facelift comes with nicer healights rear lights, bumpers Etc etc etc. Id go for facelift imo, I not long just sold my Gsxr600 Carona edition, Great to have both, but the bike rarely got used So passed her.

Yeah, edit your post before you get murdered by some of the AP police.

Welcome by the way - if you get an S, you'll love it.

Awful cars, wouldn't bother

I've had both pre and post 04 cars and prefer the later one, but.... I'd rather have a mint pre 04 with decent history than a munter of a post 04 car. Get the best car you can for the money you have available. Have a peruse of the FAQ for what to look out for, if you haven't already done so, it's a great resource.

Oh and welcome

Thanks for the heads up! I don't want to go getting myself into trouble on my first day on here! lol

I'll be heading to FAQs shortly to find the list of what to look out for. One of my biggest concerns is the noise the car makes when it's running. I would really like to attend a meeting at some stage, if that's ok, to hear a few cars so I know what to expect/listen out for when making a purchase.

Thanks for the welcome.

I live in Yarnton (North Oxford). Is there anyone else nearby?

I did spot a blue s2k filling up at my local garage just a few days ago. I've also spotted another around Milton/Harwell area. Prior to this, I've not seen one for months.

Dan, my 05 is for sale at the mo and I'm happy for you to come and have a look and I can run through things to watch out for on them and take you out for a spin.
