Default HELP!

Holy cr*p I've just been shocked by my S! Driving with the top down as you would in this weather and when I parked up and put the roof up the rear window SMASHED!!! I don't know how it could have happened! Does anyone else????

Did it catch on something or what?

Also what are my options for a new one? The roof has the usual tears so do I replace the glass or the whole lot?

Can I claim through my insurance for a rear windscreen or not and if so will it f*ck my insurance up and make the price go mad?

HELP HELP HELP!!!!

Try your insurer first, they will know whether you can make a claim, not us.

However, in general, the rear windscreen is not covered in the same way as your front windscreen with a small excess, and will be subject to your accidental damage excess.

It depends if the glass can be repaired without replacement of the whole hood.

It will probably go down as a normal claim, but any increase won't be huge - there's far too much paranoia about increased premiums following a claim. Unless you are under 25 and have limited NCB.

Seeing as a new hood can be got from Jack Smith in Swansea for a few hundred, it may be a moot point

Damn that must've scared you!

No idea how that could've happened but I don't think you can just replace the glass in a roof without replacing the whole lot...

A monsoon roof will cost you about 700, could go through insurance I guess but you will get raped for it

For the price you'll pay to remove the roof and fit a new window, the costs will not be far off getting a new roof IMO.

If it has holes etc in it, just get a new Roof and tape it up in the meantime.

If your up north I can recommend a guy in preston he's done about 5 s2000 roofs now and only charges around 100-120 and does it in 3-4 hours.

In that case, anywhere between £400 - £700 fitted.

That's so weird, uneven motor pulling twisted (possibly) already weakened glass?

Never seen it before either way!

I reckon someone tried to shoot you with a sniper rifle from a nearby rooftop

Could've ended up a lot worse

Or did you remember to push the roof catches back up when you opened it?
