Default Help, code P1411

I got this cel code appearing a few times last month then it went away.

p1141 doesnt really point to anything specific and i 'think' its air pump related.

Yesterday the code appeared again, i have reset the ECU etc and still it comes on, only when the car is cold/warmish.

When the car is cold/or just warm it engages the air pump for 30 seconds then switches off (you can hear it) for the emissions and CAT heat up, now i doesnt even make a noise so i dont think the airpump is engaging - Is it known as the secondary air pump?

When the car is hot (probably above 75c or something coolant temp) and left for a short period of time (2-5mins) and the car started up the cel doesnt come because the ECU doesnt need to switch it on?, leave for 15+mins the car cools down and it needs to engage the airpump thus cel comes on again.

Other than this the car runs fine.

I have checked all the vac lines, airpump fuse etc, the only other thing I'm thinking airpump relay has gone, or even the airpump??

Thing is i dont even have a CAT and i'm thinking its no biggie ATM as it wont effect the car apart from emissions from cold.

Can i get access to the air pump or relay easily, cant be arsed taking the whole bumper off can i remove the left side of the underneath trim?

Plus it will likely rain at the weekend when i need to look at it

Thanks

Pump could have seized up - seemingly they do.

pm me if you need one as I have one I took off mine when the car had 3000 / 4000 miles on it - like new with both relays

Thanks Nigel might well do that if its malfunctioned.

Think I'm going to have remove the plastic splash guard underneath (passenger side) after work as weather is rubbish from tommorow afterwards - do you know if thats all i need to remove to provide easy access?.

I'm thinking its either the pump has melted/seized or relay has just 'gone'? - seems logical???

Thanks

Air pump was a problem on some cars- mine was '04 and pump was replaced shortly after delivery.

AJ - its the electric motor that usually seize's (if its that) - not really visible from the out side - you need to power it up and see if it works.

You don't NEED a vacuum pump anyway.

You can fabricate a small circuit to remove the CEL and the engine will know no different.

Sure i know that Ron, its not really needed must weight about 3kgs

Anyhow I've been under the car, wiggled/unplugged connectors looked at relay and pump looks fine i think it was maybe replaced at somepoint for a TSB anyhow the fecker works now as it should!

I fail to believe its just a connection issue
