Default Help, dashboard marks

Hi all,

I had some greasy marks on the dashboard yesterday, so I decided to give the dash a clean. I used Simoniz dash cleaner, it removed the marks but it has left what can only be described as dark speckles all over the dash. I've tried a damp cloth and dried it of with a soft cloth, it seems to remove the dark marks but then around an hour later they are back. It's got me worried. Here are a couple of photos below. Any ideas?

Try some diluted washing up liquid

Even if the marks don't come off you can get the dash recoloured.

Won't washing up liquid scratch the dash as it has salt in it?

I had this same problem, and then after a while they just disappeared. I found that the more I tried to clean the dash with products the more the "greasy spots" remained. I now just dust the dash. HTH

When I repacked the seat bolsters and swapped the bases over recently, I used Auto Glym leather cleaner and leather care cream, and they came up a treat. I have never been happy with vinyl cleaners, as they always left smears. Then I noticed that the leather care cream was also suitable for textured vinyl, and every surface was treated and came up like new!

Not if it's heavily diluted.

If you're not comfortable with diluted washing liquid then try some leather cleaner.

Cheers for all the replies.

If I use leather cleaner (I use Metz) won't it make the dash look shiny? I think I'll just leave them and let them fade and never go near a dash cleaner again.

I think i've been using 303 on mine with a damp cloth and then buffed off with a dry one - do NOT want a shiny dash as it causes reflections in the screen. Have also used that foam seat cleaner soaked into a cloth - also works well.
