hi guys and girls i hope all is well.

i am trying to get my car valued. but i need its value as it was in august 2008 when it was crashed into by a truck and written off.

the insurance company are saying it was worth

 

The car was a JDM import so difficult to put a price on it but I would say that it would have been worth at least 6-7k ~ August last year.

I would be interested to see some photos of the paint job .... if you have any.

no, i got legal cover with my insurance and they are going to try and get more money out of them. not as dramatic as it sounds....

the insurers own garage said it would cost

ask them to find you a car NOW for 4k.. when they say they cant find one there you go - cheapest ones are 6k id say in aug last year you are looking at 7 - 8

 

tried saying that, but they not interested.

check the ' for sale ' section in here - and what sold from last year - a few sold around the 7 - 8 k mark if i remember

 

Who is your insurance provider?

You need a portfolio of cars in the same condition/spec/mileage etc, so you will have to hunt on the FS threads on here and pistonheads etc.

Also can glasses guide not give you prices from last year? (probably not but worth a try).

 

I thin you can get that from the Parkers site, but you will need to pay

Maybe from the others, like CAP or Glasses, but that will be harder if you aren't a subscriber

The usual form is that you would go to the Insurance Ombudsman before court - your legal cover people should know that

Before you can go to the Ombudsman, you have to have exhausted internal procedures - these should all be set out in your policy documentation
