HELP!..... I've got a rattle
I really hope someone might be able to help me, becease I'm going round the bend.
It seems that my dash board has developed a small rattle/buzzing noise. I'm finding it impossible to locate where its coming from and was wondering if anyone has an ingenious technique for locating and irradicating it.
I know I'm grabbing at straws, but it really is infuriating. Its amazing that one little noise makes me feel like I'm driving a 15yr old Larda rather than the beautiful machine I've become used to. (No offence obviously meant to those Larda lovers out there!)
SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME!
Matt

Matt,
sorry I cant really be of any help here, but I can tell you that periodically I get this too. It only seems to occur at certain revs, when I guess the resonance is just right. It can disappear for weeks on end only to suddenly rear its head for no apparent reason.
I am thinking it may be similar to a problem experienced by another user who apparently has fixed the issue with a piece of foam - but <arrggh> I cant remember his name - try searching on "foam" or something. (god knows what that might come back with - one og LB's posts probably).

If it's a buzzy rattling noise when the revs are coming down (e.g. during engine braking) then it could require a new clutch (mine had this).
A usual suspect is the passenger seat belt buckle (just move it to the top).

I would have said a seat belt rattle or if its an older car then may be it could be the hood latches have come loose or need replacing. I suppose that rattle may travel down the A pillar and sound like it was coming from the dash??
Thanks for the suggestions guys, but the rattle is definitely coming from the dash. I'll have to get someone to drive my baby while I climb all over it with a stethescope! I reckon it maybe from behind the air vents.
I'll keep you all posted.
