Help! I've Lost the Lead to my Door Switch
The interior light has become ‘sometimes it will, sometimes it won’t, come on’ when the passenger door is opened, so I set about rectifying the problem.
HOWEVER, I have learnt, from having carried out this job on a number of cars over the years, that it is important to clip the lead, as soon as you disconnect it, so that it does not disappear into the bodywork.
So, what happens? It slips out of my fingers and disappears!!!
After ten minutes of fruitless probing there is no sign of the lead so I packed up for today.
Has anyone had this happen to them, and were they able to retrieve the lead without stripping out the interior trim?

Have you taken any of the interior trim off?
I did one on mine recently. I took the plastic panel off from behind the seat, two bolts that hold the hooks on. Also the panel to the side of the seat which is directly behind the door switch.
Really quick to whip them off and from there it took seconds to get the door switch hooked up.

I will try again, but if unsuccessful I will do what MJK46 suggests! Have you taken any of the interior trim off?

Magnet on a telescopic stick with a little light on the end.
Halfrauds do em for about £4 and they are dead handy for fishing things out of places you can't get to like this or when you've pushed a ball bearing down the end of your knob to see how it feels.
