I would obviously want payment first...
But it's the way he can't spell his own country correctly that worries me the most!

Problem with the phone but they have an internet connection.....?

Could be on the level, I guess - but I tend to doubt it. If they're serious and you're determined to pursue this, tell them you want the money wired upfront to your account.

But if it was me, I'd be very wary and try to find a buyer closer to home.

I'm guessing the next bit would be for them to overpay you explaining that they owe the difference to an associate so they are trusting you to pay the difference to that associate on their behalf. They hope you will do this in the lengthy period of time it takes for their cheque / draft to bounce leaving you out of pocket.....

Apparently overseas drafts can appear to clear before actually bouncing a while later. I don't understand all the details, but this looks like a reworking of an existing scam to me.

Edited to add..
but I agree with StevenM - it could be fun to make the er jump through a few hoops and string them along for a bit.

It seems a bit of a con. He has offered me the asking price of the car and hasn't even tried to get a better deal!

Looks way dodgy to me and I'd run a mile. Also just been reading in last weeks Auto Express about fake Bankers Drafts being prevelant at the moment.
