Default Help please.

I haven't driven my car for eight days and hadn't planned to use it until Monday next (22nd) so i thought it might be a good idea to start it up and run the engine until it reached the normal running temperature. Whilst doing this the EPS indicator lit up. I turned off the engine and restarted but it was still lit up. When i last drove the car there was no problem. Should i immediately contact the dealer or is there something that i can check first that may be the cause ? Please advise, thanks, Geoff.

Is your speedo working ok?

Your PAS may be disabled. Drive the car over 10 mph in a safe area and see if it goes off.

Normally comes on if the revs have been over 3000rpm for a few mins or the speedo signal is lost, or a sensor failure.

Find someone with a Snap-on scanner, get them to tell you what trouble code is sorted.

This info will be important to you.

I am sure I've heard of this before if you just run the motor without actually driving the car if you see what I mean. Try driving the car and making some steering inputs to see if the ligh goes out. If you do have an real fault the streering will be v heavy.

Thanks for the replies folks. I have just reversed off the driveway and the steering felt heavy. I then drove a short distance and within seconds the EPS indicator went off and the steering felt normal again. Thanks again, Geoff.
