Thanks guys, I have written to the warranty company in the first instance, but I think i will contact Honda in slough as well. Does anyone have a contact of someone who can get the ball rolling from within Honda?

Hi, sorry you are having these problems, particularly with Chris's old car - I enjoyed a very exhilarating trip to Goodwood in the passenger seat of this S.

Anyway, for what it is worth, you are absolutely right about Chris taking exceptionally good care of the car whilst he owned it. And he was very aware of the oil issue. Indeed he posted about how gobsmaked he was when he picked the car up, brand new from a Honda main agent, and the salesman told him there was no need to check the oil between services .

Good luck with the claim. In my experience, perserverence and a very clear paper trail are the best way to 'turn' the Honda UK claims dept.

Ianl's right - Tif's car was still clean after he drove it all the way down to Hertford for a pre-Herts meet Herts meet!

If it was me I would go straight to the top - I think Ken Kier is Honda UK's MD

Wayne,

Just a reminder based on the chat we had on the phone.
should be able to find some free time some time around the 27th or 28th to have a look at the engine. Actually they would be perfect days thinking about it.

I should be able to get some parts back to work with me and get them on the measuring machines. I should be able to give a visual assessment of wear on the 2nd/Napier ring but I'll be able to get a contour trace of the ring profile which will give some definative wear results. If you speak to them ask if you can get a brand new ring because then I can get a new vs old comparison.

The Oil rings sticking is plausable but if they're turning freely in the grooves then I can't see that having been a problem. Can't tell from descriptions above what the bore wear is like.

Might even have a secret weapon in my arsenal (if I can get hold of him )

Speak to you tomorrow

When writing to Honda UK go straight to the top. Get MD's name and address it to him and send recorded delivery.

Good luck.

Ae has possibly given you names as he has a few.
