Unhappy How alarming!

My car doesn't get used every day but I try to put it in the garage if I know it's going to be off the road for a couple of days.

Twice now I have gone to the garage, blipped the alarm, opened the door, limboed in and started the engine ..... only for the flippin alarm to go off!!
You can't turn it off with the engine still running and have to turn the ignition off and THEN blip the fob again to stop the hideous wailey screechiness.

Has anyone else had this happen?
Is it a sign the battery is going to wave adios and give up the ghost?

Cheers in advance chaps and chapesses

I would have thought that a problem with the battery would have stopped it delivering enough current to start the car. Does the starter motor turn over and the engine start OK? If so, it's less likely to be the battery than a problem with the alarm.

Hi Rich,

Yes .. it starts with no problems at all. It's like the door release mechanism is triggered OK but the sensors are still activated or something .... I am very puzzled!

If it's the sensors, you could try deactivating them when you lock the car (2nd press of the lock button, with 3 flashes in response, on my MY02) and see if the problem recurrs next time you unlock and enter. That might at least eliminate them. But wait till tomorrow when there will be far more knowledgeable folk on here than me to give you a definitive answer

it's the car battery getting low, just enough to start but voltage drop triggers alarm

first signs are the dash goes dark when cranking

with a new battery mine it will do this if left for 2 weeks so i run it at least once a week

I agree. it is low battery Kay. Get your dealer to check drain - mine alarm was drawing 15amps so running the battery down.

Mines done the same a few times, in fact when i started it today it went off but strangely stopped after a second or two. When its done it before, have to turn the car off like you say to turn the alarm off. My battery i think is probably in need of replacing although its still green when you in the little window thing so not sure. Dont have any other problems with the alarm so i'm guessing it must be the battery.
