Default How broken?

My CEL has been on for a while, I've finally borrowed Lloyd's OBD thingy and with the help of Puppy found the that I have had misfires on Cyl 1, 2, 3 & 4, and also "multiple misfires" but I think the earlier 4 highlighted that bit. It's running rough, sounds like a Subaru when I start it up in the morning.

So what's likely to be causing it?

The car is at just over 50k miles - so could be related to the plugs?

Also when going into VTEC there is a noise that sounds like a very rapid burst of machine gun fire and a bit of a stutter until VTEC engages. I'm guessing this is probably related to the misfiring?

Next problem is there is a metallic clicky noise when setting off, or when throttling on / off (gently) in stop start traffic - so thoughts on this one? Could it be hub nuts??

Final one is a rubbery squeak (i.e. not a metallic noise) coming from the nearside rear. Definitely related to the wheel as the frequency is directly linked to wheel speed.

Had the car up in the air and spun the wheels by hand by no repeat of the noise.

What's this one then?

Thanks in advance. . . .

Hey up mate.

Best check all your plugs are tight, but it's likely to be valve clearances. There are other things too but this seems most popular cause.

Could be the valve clearances. A couple of people have recently had similar problems and they have gone away when the valve clearances were adjusted.

Timing Chain Tensioner? I had to replace mine at around 38k miles.

S2K4ME had a similar problem recently .... He had work done on the car at Honda Bushey But I not sure on the outcome.

Are you up in Windsor any time soon? Saturday maybe

Is this a Dan do-able job or take to Jorge?

Re next post - clicky noise seems to be from the rear. . . .

Will be in about 10 days I think Dan! No tools up there though

There's an FAQ on how to do the valve clearances, depends how spanner handy you are! Not many people take it on though.

Click could well be hub nuts if it's when pulling away.

Hypersonic did an excellent video on how to do the valve clearances.

Not too difficult if you have the correct tools IMO.
