Hello some of you know i bought a 54 reg cat c nurby blue s2 last month, but its had a second hand steering rack from a breakers fitted, and my only experience of steering is on my 2004 golf.
The steering feels pretty heavy, not half as free as my golf does? is this normal? When i turn a corner slowly the steering doesnt just straighten up as you come out of the corner like it does in the golf. you have to do more steering if you get me. any advice?

 

Sounds like the rack may have a slight bend.?

 

This is at low speeds I havent tried at higher speeds yet.

 

The self centering on my S was considerably improved after a proper Geo set up.

 

Yep, add more castor for stronger self centering, although it'll make the overall feel heavier. Less castor means it feels really liht around the straight ahead and then weighs up as you apply more lock.

The steering will feel a little heavier than a Gold in my experience. Best to have someone with experience of the car have a try.

Why dont you test drive a 2nd hand one for sale or something? then not buy

 

my geo is very out iv had the hole lot lose and greased it so its probably just that, although thats a good idea Irvatron.

 

Errr yeah. It'll be all over the place and have lots of weird steering effects. Don't worry about it until you get the geo done.

More importantly, what have you been drinking between 7:05PM and 7:13PM that's caused you to lose the ability to speak English in 8 minutes? And where can I get some.

 

My steering was very heavy when I first picked up my S.. turned out to be broken front ARB links... The steering was night and day when they were sorted
