Default How much oil does yours use?

Admittedly when i'm not commuting i spend a lot of time in the vtec zone, but mine seems to use shedloads of oil. I didn't get to check the oil the weekend before last so come this weekend when i checked I was rather alarmed to find there was no oil registering on the dipstick! Took over a litre to bring it up to the correct level.

It had been on about 2/3s 2 weeks ago, and I've done about 1000 miles. (160 of those were very high speed motorway, as i was a bit late)

Does this sound right?

How many miles has it got on the clock? A newer engine seems to use more oil than one which is bedded in.

I have go 14,000 on the clock and do about 240 miles a week and usually end up putting in 100ml or so every weekend, and I have a reputation for having a lead right foot . So it does seem high oil use.

I'm sure some more people will be along soon with more comparisons.

Its just coming up to 14500. Mine gets a good booting qutie often, but my daily drive (80miles) usually consists of only 1 or 2 bursts of vtec and the rest sat on the motorway at about 65.

You should try and check your oil every week and you should always fill it to the top, but never over fill

each X on the dip stick represents about 100ml, so use that as a rough guide to keeping it topped up.

What oil are you using? semi or fully synthetic or even mineral.

Obviously fully synthetic is best but which one is some what debated.

Mine hasn't used any since I got it in May, had one oil change. It has 16,500 miles on the clock. I bought a 1 litre bottle shortly after I picked it up and haven't opened it yet...

That reminds me I must check it soon.

Mileage: 16,500
Oil used per 1000 miles: 0 ml
Indication of driving: Mostly town and motorway driving / lots of vtec

04's seem to be completely sorted oil wise. Mine doesn't seem to need topping up despite mucho VTEC.
