Default How to post a reply on the For Sale section

As I am not a full member, I can't reply to a for sale posting - seems a bit limiting???

You'll have to PM the person instead.

I don't see the point in this, if you can ( and i have on many occasions ) buy via PM then what's the point in not being able to reply to a for sale post. Fair enough that you can't post a for sale advert ( when i have something to sell, i'll pay up) .... but unless there's a technical reason this can't be sorted out, it serves no benefit.

A few members complained that guests were effectively piggybacking their for sale threads, i.e using someone else's thread to advertise their stuff for sale to all visitors. This is why things were changed.

For example, John posts he wants to buy a Mugen exhaust. Suddenly all sorts of messages appear from guests advertising they have a Jujitsu, or a K's Racing one, or a Inaudia one to sell. i.e. a free advert.

This way paying members can advertise they want to buy something, and guests can sell to them via PM, thus it benefits the paying members.

Freeloading is not on, and creates a lot of moderating. Dealing with the "i'm a guest and this isn't really a for sale post" valuations is enough as it is Some are newbies and don't know, but some are sneaky

That makes sense I guess I wouldn't thread hijack for my own parts but I guess not everyone is so polite.

I very rarely reply to FS threads when I want to buy something

always send a PM

and have never had any issues doing it that way for all of the years I've been here.

Chris.
