Default Hub nuts

Recently my car has had a random rattly/knocking noise and its been driving me mad to try and find it. I noticed today that when pulling away from a standstill there is a slight click/creak coming from the OSR wheel, a quick search and it looks like it could be the rear hub nuts that need re-torqueing. Unfortunately i don't have a 36mm socket and my torque wrench only goes up to 200ft/lb. I can't believe that i have to get 220ft/lb of torque on the nut, that's an incredible amount of power, even He-Man would struggle with that!

I've just booked it into Honda for them to do it on Monday so they can do this correctly and i'm hoping that it fixes the damn rattly/knocking noise too.

Just out of curiosity did anybody find that they had to replace the rear hub nuts or was re-torqueing satisfactory?

I re-torqued. The problem went away for a few days...

I replaced and the problem has gone.

Where in the country are you? I have a socket, BIG torque wrench and a spare new hub nut....

Miles from me too, I was going to make the same offer.

New nuts are only £4 each from Honda, so don't bother fecking about with the old ones.

Easy job if you have the right tools.....

it's a standard nut too; most motorfactors should stock it.... atleast its the correct one with a OE-grade wheel bearing i got.
27 32 and 36mm sockets are well worth purchasing.

220lbft seems low. i thought it was up in the 320 area, or am i thinking on nm's?

I think I'll ring the dealers tomorrow and get a couple of new hub nuts ordered up. Seems like false economy not to replace them if they are only £4.00 each.

Veehex your right it would be prudent to have sockets of that size but to be honest I'd hardly ever use them.

i thought the same. infact, i didnt have a 36mm untill i had to replace a driveshaft. i seem to recall a 36mm being about £8 from partco.
probably not worth buying without a specific use, but well worth it when you need to

I don't think this is a big deal is it? As has been said mine got redone by Garage R but the noise came back fast so new ones are the way to go. Mine just make noise though, don't get any worse / affect anything far as I know.
