Well it finally happened...
After years of driving rubbish cars I finally get a decent one and some moron hits me in a car park.
I only noticed it today as I haven't needed to go in the boot for ages. So I've no idea when it happened.
It looks like a fairly hard tap on the rear bumper which has popped out the towing hook cover (now lost...) and obviously bent some brackets because the bumper is not sitting right at all on one side. I can't see any bodywork damage though. I'll post a picture tommorow.
My question is how is the bumper attached? Whats the likely damgage behind there?

Not at all. I'd be livid too. That's the problem these days, so few people take the responsibility for their actions. I just hope it won't cost you too much to sort out.
Hang in there mate... i had the same no less than three times within a couple of months of buying my S back in July and yep, i felt exactly the same as you each time.
Hope you get it sorted easily and not much damage underneath the bumper, if it's any consolation i managed to catch one of my culprits in the act and boy did he go thru the mill.
It's always difficult to notice these things at this time of year - invariably you are going to and from the car in the dark, it's normally filthy etc You just don't see things until you wash the car.
Thanks for the comments guys.
Here are a couple of pictures of the damage. I'm hoping the scratches on the bumper will polish out in some way. The only issue is how much damage there is behind the bumper.
I can't take it anywhere for a few days yet.
