I think a 7th gear would be very useful. Driving around Europe and on days when I was on the motorway it would have come in very handy. The engine would be under less stress, increasing it's lifespan and the noise would be much lower. I think Honda didn't put one in because a 7th gear would make accelerating almost impossible or because they wanted to keep the GB compact and light. Seeing 5500rpm doing 90 is not good IMO purely because of the engine life and noise on long drives.

I have both now though and there are certainly areas of the Rover I prefer.
