Default ICE

I went from one extreme to another today - popped into Halford to look at some speakers, and the guy there sent me to Sound Gallery in Wycombe.

They have said this (all

Dreamer, changing the HU is a piece of piss. I'll do it for you if Kelk can't. fitting the dash control is pissy also, dead easy. The control is 30 cheapest, 60 dearest - def not 70.

You can manage this - theres pdfs all over the lucid site to take you through it. Dead dead easy.

Hellfrauds are shite. AVOID.

Changing the head unit isn't particularly difficult - what is a bit more tricky is having to run a separate power feed to the battery as some aftermarket HUs need more power than the OEM one.

Craig helped me with mine (for which read he did the vast majority of the work - I just stood around supervising ) - it took a couple of hours to do it all, but probably a good half of that was taken up feeding a cable through the bulkhead to the battery and wiring it all up.

I've found HUs, amps and speakers are all hugely cheaper buying online than in a shop *anywhere* so far, dash controls tend to be same price online as in shops, but if you get it from same place at least it's not costing postage or petrol!
Fitting on the whole is a p.o.p.

PS. Does this mean you don't want my honda CD changer now? Kinda handy if so, cos I still haven't got around to taking it out the car yet!

PPS. Also used to live in High Wycombe, went to college there, I only ever went past the Sound Gallery, it looked expensive without even going in!

Jo & Kelk.

If you need someone fairly local, I can help you out with fitting it. I ended up fitting a Sony HU with the adapter from Lucid (not available anymore to the UK). If you are at the Herts meet next week, we can arrange something.

Lee.

It took me a full afternoon when I did this with my Avenger. But that was a 70s car and I need to build an adapter from bits, and I didn't have any instructions.
New cars are easy.

Simplest thing is to go HU, KCE and swap door speakers. Only needs a wire from the battery and the door cards removing 90min job! Buy the bits from tinternet add a bit of cable!

Amped system does sound er though!

I'd offer to help when I'm next down in Wycombe seeing family but not sure when that is
