Default ICE question

Sorry if this is a dim question..........

I'm planning to get a small underseat sub, but before i do, can anyone confirm if the stock headunit has the necessary ports etc. on the back?

Cheers,

No it does not.
(edit scratches head after posting... may need to check in the morning. But still convinced it does not )

1/ Decent head unit
2/ Decent speakers
3/ Decent amp(s)
4/ Decent sub

In that order

Sound deadening comes into play if you are going beyond step 2.

You could fit a 6" under there, not sure about a footlong though.
Maybe try a nice sliced load sandwich instead.

Sorry, I'm not helping am I.

OK, if I go for the sandwich, will there be enough room left for a flapjack too, and maybe a packet of crisps?

Hang on.....Halfords did a cheapy sub under the seat.
It may have been a plug in unit.

Arse - CBA to go out to the garage and check the old head unit for connections.

Thanks Gas,

It was the Halfords cheapy I was thinking of, but they don't sell it any longer. Mutant do what appears to be the same unit (probably comes out of the same Chinese factory) but they charge a bit more for it.

So, if it is a plug in, does that mean I can't use it with the stock HU? Your last post suggests not.....

I ignored the advice and bought speakers. It's always worked for me in every other car I've owned.

Seems I seriously underestimated how pathetic the std HU is hough - even with a set of Focal components it's still only has about half the volume and bass that the Halfords special and pair of 4" door speaker in my Pug 106 beater has.

Bugger!

Sorry, Gas, I should have listened

No worries mate.
The stock speakers are shocking.

A decent head unit makes a huge difference - even with shoddy stock speakers.

Why not go to your local meet and listen to someone who has put a new head unit in before you spend your hard earned.
