I'm off.....
I'm just back from my 3 week tour of the Spanish twisty stuff and I have to say that their mountain roads are an absolute blast
I may even have ended up on Spanish TV (blasting out of a corner and into a tunnel on the way up Monserrat I noticed a lot of TV camera's and stuff filming the mountainside from the other side of the road - they all looked up v quickly when they heard me coming through
).
I will admit that I slowed down on the single width stuff (2 metres wide road with a 1,000 metre drop and no safety rails - especially after I hit some concrete dust on one of the wider corners and went a bit sideways -
).
I did manage about (believe it or not) 1,500 km's on these sort of roads and the really great thing was that they were mostly deserted (if you want to get anywhere these roads would take just too long - but if fun and great scenery is what you want...
). Where the road is wide enough and you can see a corner or two ahead these roads are just out of this world (I would think its a bit like a track day but with 1,000 metre drops instead of run-off!). The hairpins can be a bit of a challenge but I got the hang of them fairly quickly (Bracknell tyres visit coming up very shortly!)
I'll post some pics in a few days (only scenery though - I couldn't take any shots while I was driving and the missuss was hanging on a bit too tight at times to take any herself
).
She did get some great video of a local Porsche outing, however, about 10 of them mostly 911's but with a couple of Boxsters as well. They let me join in the the middle of their group and we had great fun for a few miles (OK so I did suprise about the last four of them and muscled in really - but they were OK about it!)
I'll start a new thread when I get around to the pics (I may even see if I can get some stills off the video with the Porsches).
PS 3,000 top down km's in the
- I don't want to be back at work and with all these emails - better go now!
