Import MOT issues
it looks like us import owners may have an issue passing "Brake fluid warning lamp illuminated or inoperative" the brake light should come on when the ignition is turned on and stay on till the battery light goes off when the car is started (its shared with the handbrake so will need testing with the handbrake off)
can other import owners tell me how theirs behaves? this is the wiring, i'm guessing that jdm models don't have the diode in the KQ box

it should... according to vosa and the tester come on when ignition turned on, with handbrake down and stay on with battery light until car started,
please test yours
we also need some ukdm proof, Aquila Eagle tested his last night and it's as vosa say it should be

I'm sat at work in front of the mot computer and the only failures listed for brake fluid warning lamp are, illuminated or inoperative, no mention of it having to come on with ignition/battery lights etc
I think there is some muddle between the "brake fluid light" and the "brake system light" or as it's called in the UK ABS light. Whatever it is if you have an import certificate that shows the car is good to go on UK roads when it was imported, and nothing has changed then its not an MOT issue just wave the certificate at the tester.
illuminated = on
inoperative = off
lol its stupid
but on a uk car it comes on with the ignition as its paralleled with the battery light, as it doesn't come on its inoperative
mine is a nov 99 jdm
the brake system light as shown on the wiring diagram above is connected to the fluid level and the handbrake, the abs is totally separate

I think you have an interesting interpretation of the regulations there, surely pulling the handbrake makes it illuminate and therefore demonstrate that it's "operative" ? Soooo unlucky, maybe try another MOT centre ?
I feel sorry for any testers that have passed imported s2000's if this turns out to be a real issue that needed reporting
