Default Injen Intake - Thoughts

After hearing Boy Wonders Injen Intake at the weekend, my hand is twitching towards the cheque book.

Just wondered if anyone else had one fitted, or any thoughts about the advantages/disadvantages?

My concerns are

1. low intake point

2. bastard to fit?

3. need to remove front end of car to change filter?

err.........think thats it.

Your thoughts are much appreciated

1) And? Do you regualrly drive through fords? I have driven in continuous torrential rain many times over the last 12 months i've had the intake and never had any problems. The filter is tucked up higher than it would appear. You'd need to drive through over a foot of standing water for there to be any contact with the filter and even then it'd have to submerge fully to get anywhere near to the inlet pipe. I haven't heard of a fatal case on this board either across the pond or in the UK. All in all its highly unlikely that it'll ever affect the car.

2) Honda will do it in an hour. I think the new generation pipes are in two parts which will make it much easier to fit. I fitted my one pipe intake in a few hours and i am not particularly technically gifted!!

3) Won't need to change the filter for a while?! But....you can just take the pipe off to change the filter rather than the front of the car?!

Anything else?

Just read back on what boy wonder thought the first time he vtec'ed with it on - that'll make you decide!

Honda fitted mine without bothering too much. I was told if the problem was directly related to the airtake it might...........but otherwise its all fine

Thanks guys. I can feel the pressure building

One last question - do you have to do any cutting of the trim under the front bumper to get the rascal in

My injen CAI arrived a couple of days ago from th US. I bought it second hand off ebay.

Problem is it does not look like the ones fitted the other S2000 cars at all. Its just a short right angle stainless pipe, and the air filter sits high up just in front of the engine not down in the bumper.

Can'not work out how it can be a CAI, it must suck hot air in from the engine bay.

Will fit it though just to see how it does run.

BTW: The Injn model number for this intake is IS1300.

Anyone heard of this one ???

It sounds like you've got the (short type)air intake(CA) instead of the cold air intake(CIA). Similar to the RPM style

Mr Mojo, tha part number of mine is IS1305P. Sounds like Subaru is correct, you have what I think is commonly known as a short ram intake.

Blurter, sorry mate I can't answer your question, I think Steven had to cut part of his to get it in??? But with the new ones being 2 piece this may not longer be the case.
