Default Inspired by a thread on Scoobynet................

I get really ed off when I find people parking in the 'mother and child' spaces at the supermarket when they don't have any kids with them

Now personally I don't give a about walking some distance....when I'm on my own in the S2000 I park as far away as possible from the entrance...WALKING DOESN'T BOTHER me

Fact is that to get a baby seat out of the car requires the door to be fully open....the regular spaces don't allow for this....the supermarkets are actually doing everyone a favour by providing these extra wide spaces...

why?....cause it means there's less of a chance of your car getting dinged by a parent trying to get a car seat plus baby into the car

Then there's the smart arse that comes back with....."What happened years back when these space didn't exist?

Answer.....there were no child restraint systems until quite recently....and of course like I said more potential for people getting door dings when they did exist and the wider spaces hadn't been invented

It just annoys me when people think you are using them just 'cause they happen to be close to the entrance of the supermarket..........the fact that I don't wish to run the risk of damaging someone elses car by trying to get a trolley plus baby seat inbetween two cars seems lost on some people......if I go with my eldest who can get in and out on her own I park at the back anyway as it does her good to walk

Fact is we live in a ing selfish society where too many arseholes think of no one but themselves

I always park furthest away too so there are no other cars near me, I have used the handicap bays before which give you plenty of space but only when my grandfather is in the car and we have his windscreen attachment !!!

Far too many people think only of themselves. Selfish barstewards. Society really does need to sort itself out.

This thread has been done before on at least one occasion - and it got quite heated, with two diametrically opposed sets of views.

If we're going to have the discussion again, can we please keep it civil?

Thank you.

like I say I'd be none to happy parking the S2000 next to a car used by a parent and child......as a parent I know what happens....you've got a trolley full of provisions.....you end up getting the kid out....invariably the trolley goes west....potentially right into the side of the neighbouring car if it's close enough

what parent is going to prioritise an errant trolley over a baby?..none

I gave one biddy a dirty look the other day and she comes back with "My money's as good as anyones and I'll park where I like"....

reply "do you have children?"...

anwer "No"

reply "With a face like yours I'm not surprised"

I did feel a tad guilty afterwards but at the end of the day she deserved it.....and being a woman made no difference as I employ a non-discrimination policy

I always park in mother and child spaces in the supermarket car park. They are put there as a service to attract those customers to the supermarket. Fortunately for the supermarket they also attract me to the supermarket, as it is wide spaces for my baby, and near the door

I bet it's a Morrison's supermarket. Their spaces seem to have been designed by Gnomes.

The other big problem with Parent and Child spaces is that they are mainly designed for small children. My children are 5 & 7 and I feel I shouldn't really park in these spaces unless there really are no others in the 'safe' vicinity. (There are many **seholes that just seem to speed along by the entrance without a care in the world...Many a time I have been tempted to let go of the troloey..into his/her path and watch the resultant dent. HE..HE)
