Default Insurance prices?

Calling round for insurance quotes in readiness for an incoming S2000 and wondered what I should be aiming for, and which brokers are recommended?

The car will be a weekend car, garaged and completely standard, so I'm looking at a 5000 mile policy (I could probably do with less to be honest).

Best price so far is with Classicline at £327 for 5000 miles p.a. and an XS of £100, a fair bit more than my Elise but I was expecting that.

How does this compare, and who else should I be calling?

thanks,

No, this used to be an oft-asked question but it comes up rarely these days, especially as prices are very specific to an individual.

There are a few people providing quotes in the Traders section, who might be worth a call.

There are far, far, far, too many variables for any kind of useful comment. Age, area, NCB, convictions, status of vehicle, your age, your profession. The list is endless, just keep searching and go for the lowest quote with the most reasonable set of restrictions/excess.
Have a look at Martin Lewis's web site Money Saving Expert for a few pointers. Insurance threads are a waste of time.

i tend to agree, but a few suggestions of brokers who offer good quotes (esp. for classic, limited mileage, policies) would be useful?

I know quite a few from insuring previous cars on such a policy, but I'm sure there's many I haven't come across who could be worth calling.

Adrian Flux are pretty good...
Don't take their first offer and haggle them down

Thanks John - I called them about 15 minutes ago, currently the cheapest quote at £287 but excess is £150,

Seems pretty reasonable, and leading the table as it stands.

Try Direct Line if you haven't already, they're ~158 for me in an A rated insurance area. That was with 0 no claims bonus too, somehow.
