Looks like a very wide-eyed MGF!

Hmm. A logical progression - take on Mazda and try to steal some of the MX5's lower-end roadster market buyers.

Well spotted!

If it did end up in production with 120bhp and 900kg thats only 133BHP/Ton...... a fair chunk behind the CTR @166bhp/ton but about on par with an MX-5 or MR2.

I always wanted Suzuki to make the follow up to the Cappuccino..... the C2 was supposed to have a 1.6 V8 twin turbo pushing out 250bhp in an 800kg chassis!

Ugly as sin mind you! (the C2 not the S1000)

I think it's pretty cool. I would seriously consider getting one as a second car.

After having re-visited my home in the UK recently, I developed a new appreciation for small, high revving motors, and some of the newly developed diesel engines which are becoming more and more serious competitors for their gasoline/petrol counterparts. It makes me wonder why some of these engine variants are not avail. on this side of the pond.

The S1000 concept is brilliant in my opinion, and fills a unique void currently found in the marketplace. The problem is with North American culture which will guffaw at the displacement of such a small engine, completely disregarding all the other virtues of such a car.

I'll get off my soap box now!

But then so is the CTR, Drac. Doesn't NECESSARILY mean anything about whether it's fun to drive.

I was having coffee with two Honda sales staff about 3 weeks ago and they said that in a couple of years we "will have" a small 2 seater from Honda to go against the MX5. The information came from HUK.

Agree to a certain extent, but IMO roadster = RWD not FWD/AWD. Lotus made a fab car with the Elan but it was FWD and subsequent poor sales proved the point. Same with Fiat's Barchetta - Punto running gear and FWD (also only available in LHD which doesn't help things!), and the new Daihatsu Copen.

Ain't that the truth...
