Its 2:30 in the afternoon - I am just going for the Sunday. I don't have the time to make a Saturday night of it

Its about a 1:45 hour drive from the M50/N4 junction, but it is the largest, fastest karting track in the country so it should be worth it

Diff oil changed! Using Honda Hypoid SAE90 GL Differential Fluid. Thanks to Tom/LeftFootBraking for the tip off on the Honda Part #.

Looks like I managed to pretty much use a 1L bottle even though its supposed to take 700-800ml?

Filled til it began to come back out, though car was reversed up onto a pair of small ramps so would have been a little off horizontal - though there was a little left in the bottle, I spilled a little and probable some left in the syringe pump when i was done - messy little job with the oil syringe.

NCT booked for Wednesday week.

Gearbox oil is the next job. Might do fuel filter then... slowly but surely getting through all the basic serviceables. Engine bay needs a cleaning too, which will let me get to know its layout somewhat

I did my fuel filter at 70k miles and it was as clean as a whistle. Its a pain in the hole to get to as well... (if you have a soft top on your car!)

I wouldn't be bothered doing it on your car tbh

Its been said before but to be honest, the best person is yourself.

None of us here are mechanics(I think?) but most of us do these things ourselves. Both out of interest and not trusting anyone else to be honest!

Although these are a special car, the basics of maintenance and servicing are all straight forward - once you make sure you use the right oils/parts the procedures themselves are no more complicated than a normal Honda Civic.

And there are how-to's for all of the basics in the Tech Forum here on S2kI.com

When you say Servicing/Maintenance, what do you mean?

Last car I worked on was a mark 1 Escort circa 30 years ago, when I was game enough to replace dynamos, haul out the dashboard etc. Somewhat de-skilled since then.
Thinking about things like dealing with suspension etc that this baby seems to need..

Ah... well it still shouldnt be too complicated.
I'll honest in that I only have mine about 4-5months, and have not gotten round to looking at suspension on her yet, and do be honest, don't know if I will, at least not to modify it from standard.

But again, not overly complex. Just decide what bits in particular you need to do and look up the how to's in the Tech Forum - or if you're not sure what needs doing, post the symptoms there(or here) and you'll get pointed in the right direction?

The Escorts are cool, a friend uses one for Retro Rallying/Autotesting, though his may as well now have an '09 reg with the work its had done...

Finally put together the video/photo compilation of my Alpine driving trip back in September, with sound tracks!

Its a little long but feck it, that was after cutting out litterally a couple of hundred photos and trimming most of the video clips!

Hopefully it will inspire some others to experience those amazing roads and settings!
