They don't have email contact on their site - just snail mail and phone and I'd rather email in the first instance if I can

Do you have an email address for anyone at S20004U? I'd like to give them the opportunity to look at and offer on my car on the basis that you seem happy you got a reasonable price.
This is the email address I had for Sean when I was purchasing my car from him...

Coincidentally, and wholly independent of my own sale, my brother also just sold his own S2000 to them
Did he (does he) whore on here too ... or does he not have his brother's nerdy tendencies ... ??

I am sorry but that is just rude. Who are you calling skinflint? I take real exception to that nonsense!

We know the reasons why I refuse to pay here. It is a matter of principle and not of my own doing. I was a member, would still be a member had it not been for CThree and even pay my subs to S2KUK. Do you genuinely think $20 is going to make any difference to me? So before you start on me about being skinflint I suggest you tone down that crap.
Rahul, if you're going to take the moral high ground, don't break the rules for your own gain. Many of us have been (or still are) paying members who have, for one reason or another, been disappointed with the S2ki service (the search functionaliy winds me up) but if we don't pay, we don't get certain benefits. End of story. $20 is nothing to you or probably any of us on the board. I don't think Mark has the time to consult his thesaurus to put a more PC description of your tightarse approach.

As to how this board is funded and run, well that is another subject matter entirely but remember the sale forum used to be free and changed when people only posted their one and only post to sell something. This is not the case with me. The one thing some paid members seem to be overlooking is that this board "is" free to read and post on. I am sure you would like me to pay but that is a choice and I made the choice not to pay. If that means I can't advertise here then so be it but since the rules were changed I have never advertised to anything of mine.

How many large and popular fora are there that need subscription? Pistonheads is huge yet they seem to do well without membership costs. Autopia run a forum that is huge too and they too are free. I don't visit many others but the other car ones I have seen are free also. What is so special about this forum? Is the revenue from the marketplace, sponsors and Google advertising not enough to meet the costs to run this site?

If tomorrow I had no choice but had to pay for a membership in order to read and post here I would make a decision if it was worth it but until then we have some people who pay and feel aggrieved when others don't e.g. MT and non-members feel pressured to pay by paid members. The forum rules dictated to by the owner of this board state that non-members can read and post so I am unsure why some paid members feel the need to tell others to pay, put pressure on them or ridicule them when they don't. Do you?

Toyota Owners Club (TOC) required paid up membership before you could sell anything through the Forum. And I know of other similar (but possibly non-car) forums where full membership had to be achieved before advertising was allowed.

Whether it's right or wrong, I'm not sure, but to me $20 is a tiny amount of money to pay for the full benefits of the forum. Probably the cheapest part of owning the 'S'!!

But it basically comes down to personal choice.....
