JDM BBS 16" wheels on 2004 S - Good idea?

Hey all, just wondering if I'd get any problems with putting a set of BBS 16" wheels on my 04 S? I'm just concerned if the suspension etc is setup for 17", will it be ok?

The BBS' are a MASSIVE 6lb lighter at the rear, and about 5lb at the fronts

Quite tempting to paint them anthracite & pop them on my black S

Thoughts?

Also I was considering the Rota Slipstreams but have found out they're also approx 20lb for the rears (17x8), same weight as oem pretty much

cheers

Si

Sorry but the JDM BBS wheels are too good for MY04s, and for that matter all UK cars. :p

While nice, they dont look as good as the OEM 17's, so I would only do it if you are on a big weight saving mission.

You might find having a shit and a piss before driving has the same effect, or removing the spare wheel for example :)

But again, weight saving is all or nothing IMO.

 @ BBS

TBH changing my MR2 wheels for Volks had a nice effect, not massive but car def felt a lot more 'perky' when giving it death ;)

I think in anthracite they'll look a lot nicer, and I'll be able to sell the 04 wheels a lot easier...

:D

Is that each or 6 and 5lbs for the pair?

Each wheel, 14.5lb for the BBS & 20.4lb for the 04 oem (rears)

2004 wheels

F: Cast 17x7 17.6lbs
R: Cast 17x8.5 20.5lbs

Not a bad saving then, take a few big dumps to loose those lbs.

Don't forget tyres for 17" wheels will be lighter. If you're staying at same rolling radius and tread width.

Of course, never thought about the rubber weight - Though I doubt it'd be a great deal.

I'd have to paint the BBS wheels anyhow, they're in pretty much perfect nick though except for a few scratches so dont need a refurb :)

My main concern is possible disruption of the suspension setup, dont wish to risk anything

In theory with 16" wheels you'll need a stiffer setup to compensate as the tyre sidewalls are likely to be softer.
