Default JDM Imports

Hi I'm a new member.
I'm in the process of importing an S2000.When it arrives i will be carrying out any pre ESVA work myself.
I have read your Technical FAQ's on the subject, which have been very helpful.
Is there anybody out there who can tell me what the speedo mod is, to read MPH.?
Will I have to replace the pod,or can a electronic converter be used?
Thanks very much,

Vince.

Can't help with your questions, you could try a search though.

More importantly though make sure you come along to the NE/Jock meet advertised in my sig

To make the speedo read mph, just press and hold in the mph/kph button

Doesn't work on a JDM.

Vince - you'll need to electronically adjust it and you'll also need to bypass the speed limiter. Don't replace the pod it'll cost you a fortune

In addition, the SVA may require headlamp washers for use in the EU. Waste of time but thats the rule !...you may want to pm ahurst who has taken his through what I believe was the Esva as opposed to the normal one.

As to your handle...do I take it you are bringing in a VGS JDM ?..there ain't many of them about !

I have a JDM, mine was taken through the SVA by the importer Japvillage in Horsham 01403 257257, it might be worth ringing them for help, I know they have a regular visit from a speedo guy who does all that sort of thing, he's based north of the M25. There's bound to be someone near you who could help.

Hope that helps

Oh, by the way, when you first collect it, the clutch needs to be pressed in to start it !

were you please with the service you got from jap village? they used to have a very bad reputation in the days that they imported mr2's for buying a well modded car, stripping off the mods to return it to stock, registering it a newer than it is and selling off as a unmodified car. hopefully thats all changed.

They didn't have a chance to do any of that with me

Basically I wanted an S but wasn't going to go into debt to buy one. He brought 6 in japan and advertised them before they arrived in the country. I saw my one and got the VIN number. This I had checked through a friend of mine at Honda as I was surprised at how low the mileage was. My friend did a trace on the car, called Honda Japan and also spoke to the supplying dealer. I got the full history of the car, detail on the mods, the owners etc. and then put a deposit on the car.

It was delayed by 2 months so Jap village gave me a twin turbo Supra to tide me over ( what a flippin laugh..auto but could wheel spin in 3rd ).

The car eventually arrived and I was there as it was unloaded from the transporter. I left it with them overnight while they put the alarm/immobiliser on it and drove it away at 8am the following morning.

They therefore didn't get a chance to drive it or do anything else to it. So for me, the service was great but I have heard some different stories from guys who bought Skyline GTR's from them.

cool, sounds like you did well out of them, particularly with them giving you a supra for 2 months!
