Sounds like a great trip and a good way to get used to the car. I promised to drive my girlfriend around France in order for her not to whinge at me for buying the S2000. Having read this I am really starting to look forward to it myself.

Funny enough it was my girlfriends idea to do the trip and she absolutely loved it (apart from trying to cross the roads in Paris ) We've driven all over the USA and Australia but this trip was def more fun

Sounds like a great trip.

I actually live in the Rhone Alpes region, Lyon, less than an hour and a half from Geneva.... You might be interested to know that an S2000 List price is 42k Euro

Compare that to the 2009 cars at Motorpoint for less than 18k GBP
Prob why I only saw one s2000 throughout the whole trip Loved the roads leaving from Geneva towards Dijon, just need to pursade the missus to move there now

I know what you mean, all mine are at the very bottom of the front bumper so I think I'll get the front lip spoiler which should then hide them all

The big question is.... Could I bring an S over here and live with RHD? In fact I started a thread on here before about doing that, and it came down to re-registration costs and RHD issues like changing the headlights
I live with an RHD in Italy, albeit on a semi permanent basis. Still registered at my UK address (where I still live) but it stays pretty much all year round at my place in Italy. Goes back to Uk once a year for MOT and servicing.

Have you left UK for good?

I still own a house in the UK and keep a car over there (old Mondeo for running around), but I could not find a legal way to bring a UK car over here and keep it insured? I am a French resident and tax payer, but UK nationality.

How do you do that? Any tips?

I see, in my case I am an Italian national resident in UK.

For insurance there are three companies that may be of help. the first is Stuart & Collins Insurance, the have a policy through AXA for full year Comprehensive cover outside the UK, but you may not apply as non UK resident. Then there is Italsure which may be better suited for you and finally AJInsurance, although they're more for constant trips to the mainland from a Uk base.

Lets follow this up via PM if you have more questions.

PS: Apologies to p800bry for the hijacking of the thread! Promise I'm done now.

PPS: Driving along some nice Swiss mountain passes this Sunday
