Default K&N Apollo Kit

Folks, looking at buying this kit but looking for some feedback first.

The only problem I can see is the kit advertises the maximum power of the engine to be 250bhp for N/A and it's claimed to give 15bhp on the Civic Type R. Not sure if this will be more restrictive than the standard set up with this in mind? Any opinions?

Sean

It won't give you any more power - the claims are B/S. Not even sure they do an Apollo in S2000 fitment?

The top of the K&N tree is the FKIP Gen II which many on here use.

If you are after more power, unless you are doing lots of other mods, look somewhere other than an intake change.

If you are after more noise then go for it!

Being honest, I'm not expecting power gains. Coming from turbo cars, I see n/a engines as being poor for mods and I've no intention of doing much to the car. I also wouldn't spend

Really looking for something thats going to make the car more enjoyable to drive or will help the car in any slight way
make it go round corners better before you attempt to 'find' lost power

Either a less restrictive way of the car getting air or some sound for my sound loving little ears

Ste_Nova, I'll be looking into suspension upgrades and brake upgrades in due course but I'm looking at this in the mean time due to becoming available to me for a cheap price. Also, I know my limits and I'll be booking into track day school soon for the car

You are making the assumption the stock airbox is restrictive

If you want loud, you go to an open type filter and they will cost you more money.

Or just take the lid off the airbox.

If you want more air in, get a K&N replacement cone filter (minute difference) or a supercharger

You can't have it all.

I've taken lid off the box and I quite like the sound. Again, I was only considering as I could have got the kit quite cheap. Take it you wouldn't recommend it?
