Today i had the K&N Induction Kit fitted to my S2000. I believe it is the typhoon model however. What is the difference between the typhoon and aircharger? To be honest i was expecting the aircharger....The typhoon seems to go much lower in the engine bay than the aircharger model.

 

FIPK sits in a heat shield in the engine bay. Typhoon goes lower into the area behind the lower part of the radiator. Both have their individual pros and cons.

 

Oh i see.... could you share with me the pros and cons?

 

Low mounted air intake will suck up water when immersed. Deep puddle driven into accidentally (or not!) can hydrolock the engine.

The short ram kn intake does nothin for power imo. When u shut the hood ur heat soaking it A lot. U rather stick to oem intake. But if u get a Cold air it sucks somewat ok air rather than the header heat. U might get 1-3hp with this kinda intake if ur lucky. Most ppl just install the intake for noise and weight loss. This has a con of sucking in air if it rains a lot at ur place. My intake is custom and the filter sits on the pads headlight. Get the best of both worlds.

 

Keep stock and don't waste your money...

 

It's completely personal preference whether you think it's worth it. I think the intake roar from a CAI is very worthwhile and is the one thing I miss now I've got a supercharger. At tracks days, I've had several people say that it was the nicest sounding car at the track. I think it really adds to the enjoyment of the car.

So don't listen to anyone else. Fit it and enjoy it. If you don't like it, take it off and sell it on to someone else. No biggy.

A decat, remap and good intake like an aem v2 are the most cost effective mods when na. Exhaust and manifolds make small gains, dual aftermarket exhaust gains are very very small.

 

Are there any noticeable sound differences between the two K&N options?
