Default Kings Performance Rebuilt, built engine.

Just quickly,my rebuilt built engine from Kings Performance having only just been run in needs rebuilding.

On the Dyno last Tuesday it blowing the dipstick out and covering the inside of the bonnet/windscreen in oil......mmmmmm that can't be right.

Fernando had the decency to rebuild my shot engine and pay all expenses which credit to him must have cost a few quid. But when the old engine arrived in the states the shipping company smashed the block with the forklift.

So a brand new Benson wet sleeved block was supplied which was great news for me....Unfortunately in order to save a few quid he installed all the old components including the severely detonation damaged pistons.

Crank, con rods, head all would be ok to reuse provided they were cleaned and checked. The pistons were scrap, half the crown on one of them was very badly pitted and only fit for the bin.But it was obviously decided that to save a few quid they would squander a new sleeved block and rebuild it using scrap pistons.....With new rings.

So to all intents and purpose I've got a brand new engine with scrap pistons in it.They know more than I do and it's probably been mentioned a few time they build the fastest s2000's in the world.

The first start up with a very safe base map it knocking it knackers of.I thought I was imagining it.So onto the low loader and down to Gary at Ap Tuning for a running in map.Filled with mineral oil to help the running in process.

The knocking turns out not to be knocking but is in fact piston slap.Mmmmmm, bit worrying but Gary says let's get it run in and see how it goes.

1000 miles and 3 mineral oil changes later it's back on the Dyno for a full power map on this 850 hp Kings built engine.

First few runs it's 80 hp down on the stock engine I run last year at the same boost.Ah well it is a low compression 2.2 engine.Soon as the boost is wound up to 1 bar, we were hoping to run 2 bar.It start blowing the dipstick out and blowing oil out of places it really shouldn't.

If Fernando bothers to respond to this you can expect loads of videos of all his fast cars going fast and the blame being put onto anybody apart from the retard who fitted fecked pistons.

I've got to have that engine stripped, rebuilt and refitted at a cost of around £5-6000 just because somebody needed to save £3-400 in new pistons.

Nooooo!!!!! Didn't they give any information about what they were going to reuse by way of a report on the old engine and parts condition?

That sounds like a very basic noob error for a experienced tuner to commit. I think I remember reading in the past when some other tuner messes up and shirks responsibility, Kings usually do the right thing for the customer. Or maybe I remember wrong...

In defence of Fernando if he is defendable he probably had very little to do with the engine rebuild himself. When I got the first engine I had 7bolt holes which needed helicoiling,3 engine to box and 4 sump bolts. On top of that when I went to change the pulse sensor on the cam,2 cam carriers had been snapped.

I asked for the new engine not to have a fitting on the girdle for the turbo oil return as I had a modified front cover for that.Fair play it didn't have the fitting as I had asked but the 1 inch Hole was still put in the side of the block, which had to be welded up.

He's asked me to do leak down and compression tests........what for???? Worst case the engine is as I say, best case is he rebuilds it again? I don't think so,I wouldn't trust his engine builder on a lawnmower engine.I can see Im going to have to go it alone on this one.Ive fitted that engine twice on the say so of his builder that it's fine,I had to pay Gary to romove it the first time it failed, not cheap.

Before I bought the original engine I was told it had only done around 1000 miles from being built, that sounded good to me so I asked him to put new shells and rings in for piece of mind, which would obviosly include replacing the head gasket, so I paid for the parts including the Hg.

When Gary decided to do an oil change before putting it on the dyno the sump plug was covered, when I say covered that's what I mean,in metal filings.Further investigation revealed damaged bores and severe det damage on the Pistons......oh!and the head gasket which hadn't been replaced but paid for was blowing.

I'm sorry if this is going to get boring but I'll be putting a similar post on the s2000 section on Facebook and also on the forced induction forum.

Almost the worst part of this is the fact that he talks to me like I'm a 5 year old and obviosly everything that has gone wrong is completely 100% my fault. Then he has the gall to comment on how much I've spent on my car saying that he's done me favours and everything at a good price because I've played the no money card to him.Ive no money to keep throwing at a scrap engine that his retarded engine builder has told me twice now is a good engine.

Admittedly he has done me good prices on parts but I have spent $50.000 with him.

Got any pics of the damaged pistons that went back in?

Where was the damage?

Glen when you make a decision on what your going to do then get in touch with MB and find out who done the work for him. They done a perfect job and they wont bullshit you.

Personally if i was you i would get a stock engine and put everything on that and then maybe run less power. It will still be an epic car. You need a car you can drive and enjoy. It spends too much time off the road and not enough time with you enjoying it.

Really crap news .

Is this not a problem as a result of having 3000miles of cold inhospitable sea between us and them and they don't give a fig if the truth be know , they are not likely to get an F20c slung through their front window are they !
