Default Knowing what you know now....

Just ordered a UK 2002 GT, coming in June.

After a few weekends browsing these forums, have picked up lots of useful information so far, so thanks very much to everyone who contributes.

My question is this : Knowing what you know now, would you have done anything differently upon receiving your new car...?

Yes, I would have spent a hell of a lot more time driving the car and less time worrying about things! Seriously, this is an incredible car that deserves to be driven at every opportunity. Make the most of it, especially as you can really enjoy summer

paid more attention to the products I was using to clean it with....only after 8 months did I fully appreciate how good it could look when using some pukka wax.

pay more attention to my driving skills - I run out of talent long before the car

Is the Zymol working out OK for you Kobe? I can't wait to give mine some real Zymol TLC this week

On receiving - no - inspected it reasonably thoroughly - had the 'taking delivery' list with me - but most of that is what you wd do anyway.
Perhaps I would have changed the time in the year when I got it! December is not a good month. On the other hand wet, cold roads engendered a respect which I might not have had if I picked it up now - say.
Was pretty anal - probably overly so - about running it in.

Just feel extremely happy that for once - I made an absolutely right decision

what I really like about the Zymol - it is much quicker to apply than the other rubbish I was using. The main thing is that it seems to coat evenly and does not leave any residue.

I have to admit after a few months I was wondering if I had made the right choice in colour - after seeing all your pics, however now I have learnt how to make it look smart...it's the business

In hindsight - I missed out on getting pictures taken of the car by a friend who left back for the USA. He is a pro-sumer when it comes to having the top camera gear and taking proper pictures - he had all the Contax and medium format stuff available.

I find it very difficult to take good pictures of this particular car. It looks stunning when you are standing next to it - but somehow pictures can't give the same perspective. Either the car looks somewhat skinny - or too high off the road, and simply just ordinary. I was walking back to my apartment the other day and my car was parked in the dark shade of the visitor parking which is kind of a carport - but the sun was directly catching the front wheel which was slightly turned at an angle - the wheel looked fantastic - with the huge front disc behind it also brightly shinning - the S02's nice and spic and span too. I took 12 pictures with different exposures - flash, settings positions - all the tricks, and somehow none of them look particularly good - or as I remember the view. This is the first one - none were any better.

Well, being the cynic as I am about dealers, I would have checked the car over better. In hindsight, I should have refused to take delivery of it, until they had fixed the problems I found when I got home. Like most, I was in too much of a hurry to take it home.

Assuming that you are buying from a UK dealer, check the quality of the alarm installation. It's fitted by a 3rd party in the UK and the quality of installation is not great. Check how well the mats are fitted. Has the dealer ordered the hardtop stand?

I should have got a cover, as I leave mine outside. I always though it was too much hassle, but regret it now.

Above all enjoy driving the S2000

Thanks for the help guys.

I'll be sure to look up the 'taking delivery' checklist.

I've found the running-in (or sometimes lack of it!) information useful, and also the Optimax information.

I'll try to keep the hardtop on for a couple of week but that will be tough if the weather gets any better!

Kobe, I took your pic, cropped it, darkened it slightly, increased the contrast, gave it a bit more blue and this is what I got

That colour you have there is VERY

Yeah, knowing what I know now I wouldn't have driven so fast in the wet on the motorway and have smashed it up !! Having had the experience I will now take it very carefully when the chance of standing water occurs - from day one !
