Laser Detectors/Diffuser
Having done a search and looked at all the info on detectors etc.., I still haven't managed to figure out which is the best for me. Probably more my fault than anything.
What I'm looking for is a system that will protect me from all the police tricks.
I am doing a lot of motorway miles and am paranoid about being picked up by mobile sites and also the dreaded video car following behind. I would like peace of mind to stretch the speed limit.
From what I can figure the best systems on the market are the Origin B2 and the Snooper S6-R, but I am worried that if the police zap me will, then they already have my speed? So what would be the point? Has anyone been stopped by the police with a detector? And were you done for speeding?
I don't really want a diffusers like LRC 100, not knowing the law and all. Plus has anyone heard of having a 'garage door opener' of the back of a car? But is this the only real protection? Plus

I haven't heard much good feedback about the quality of the snooper device. Apparently the new s4 and s3 neo's are better. However I wil end up buying a B2 soon. Only heard good things.
Diffusers are another kettle of fish. Can't see any reason why you can't mount one in the rear bumper as well. However I understand that the camera cars track distance over time to get a very accurate speed reading along with laser ????
Seems to be a common theme in the office at the moment we are receiving more NIP's than orders

Take a look at this web site, these guys sell all you need to get set up
http://www.cel-direct.com/shop1.asp?s_page...radarsplash.asp
As Mark said the VASCAR system does not emit any kind of signal which could be picked up by any device, so all you can do is be vigilant and don't pass white volvo estates at high speed
But the rest you can deal with, radar detectors, GPS systems, and Laser Diffusers will deal with all the other nasty's plod has up his sleeve.
But be warned, Laser Difffusers are Illegal if they are turned on, the words turned on are the key ones. It is NOT illegal to have them fitted just illegal if they are active, so all you need is a switch on the dash to turn them off this is the loop hole which is used so when you see the flashing lights behind you just flick them off and nothing can be done as they can't proove that they were on in the first place.
Hope this helps

Keep your eyes open and you shouldn't get nicked on a Mway in any case unless its from a laser gun on a bridge. If you can't see the marked cars you need an eyesight test anyway. As for the unmarked cars just keep your eyes open for larger saloons and estates with no tow bars, no stickers in the windows, quite often a whip aerial, sometimes a second mirror for the passenger, the VASCAR kit on the dash, driver with a white shirt, toodling along at 60-65 in Lane 1.
Speaking as somebody who has never been "booked" by a camera (I can usually eyeball these and I'm not shy about pushing the brakes on hard!) I wonder what the value of a detector really is? As stated elsewhere, VASCAR is the real threat (and SPECS when this becomes active) as these are passive.
Don't assume you are going to see the VASCAR car either. I have been booked three times by it in the past and, without exception, the car using it has always been "hidden away". For example, they will pick a slip road on a dual carriageway where the sides of the slip are covered in trees. They can then see you going past and are ready for their "hot pursuit" (God bless their cotton socks!) but you can't see them. The only defence here is knowing the local area and the traffic cop's haunts (watch out for the A11 going into Norwich and the A33 going into Reading, to name but two hot spots).
I have heard that there is a program on the internet that will upload to a high spec GPS system and that will pick up information from satellites for emergency vehicle's GPS transponders. This is then supposed to display their whereabouts on the program. Is this true does anyone know? If so, that would take care of Vascar but what about SPECS?
In short, I think detectors are a waste of money and you are better off saving your money for the fines and keeping your eyes wide open and your speed below whatever the authorities consider is the "fixed penalty limit" at all times (EG 97 mph on a motorway).
