Default Looking for an Air Charger, recommendations please

Want to take the plunge to get the air box off noise (I believe this is what an air charger would do) without the performance drop and the lower mpg

After reading threads here, seems like the K&N air charger could be a good pick.

Any opinions from the collective here?

...believe that you can only get them from the States???

Thanks in advance

Pete, I'm guessing your talking about the one discussed in this thread.
I considered this one myself but in the end I agreed with Cedric and I've joined in CC's group buy of the Aus Intake Extension.

Yep, that's the one. It uses a K&N filter apparently. My mate in Toronto is driving up to the factory to buy one cash (so there will be no Canadian taxes or shipping ) and then he is using his company's shipping system to send it to me. He'll put a birthday card inside - so, hopefully, there'll be no UK import duty

As an aside, I would be surprised if any replacement system of the types discussed on this thread made any real noticeable difference to performance. What I specifically wanted was the "air-box lid off" noise with no LOSS of performance; that's the only reason I'm buying this unit.

I have contacted k+n directly and they have put me in touch with a UK supplier (5 miles away). He didn't have the parts in stock but will be calling today to give me a price.

If you have a search on the board for "Rm intake" you'll find a lot of posts about it. It's a hot air intake. Looks great, but you'll lose power with in due to intaking hot air. I'm not sure about the cold air option, but I don't think it had much impact. But a quick search will find a gazillion posts on it.

I have fitted k+n kit .Now done 1000 miles and the car sounds great and is defiantly faster It can now drive in 6th gear in traffic (not that you would really want to. Highly recommend K+n
p.s
really easy to fit and no mods to car required so you can put original air box back on ....
