Losing power .
Though if the revs are shooting up as you change gear, then that sounds like the throttle sticking. But if it's after you've changed up and put your foot on the accelerator again, then what MB said.
Thanks MB and Dembo.
This morning I've checked the oil : registered on lower mark on dipstick ; topped up accordingly.
Took the car for a short run : revs shooting up then down not as I change gear but just after, and also without changing gear, accelerating driving along, give it a few revs and it surges and falls. So points to clutch slip ? If it IS clutch slip does that automatically mean a new clutch?
Whatever the case, I'll ring the garage tomorrow.
But there's definitely not the power.
Thanks for everyone's help.

If you get a spike of revs with no corresponding increase in speed, with your foot completely off the clutch pedal, then yeah the clutch needs replacement. Get yourself on a nice straight stretch of road at 40mph in 4th gear and put your foot down whilst watching the rev counter and the speedo, you'll know within half a second if it's slipping.
Only other thing is possibly a dodgy clutch pedal adjustment at the last service, but as you say you've been driving it daily for a while and it's only happened the last few days so this is unlikely.

Yes, it's something like as you describe. Just hope I make the 25 mls to the garage. If a new clutch, talking a few hundred ?

What has to be done has to be done. About how long would you expect a clutch replacement to take ( assuming that is Honda's diagnosis) ?
I'm hoping I can get up there early morning and back for 3 for work.
Would you expect a Honda dealer to charge £1000 for new clutch fitted? JUst been trawling the net and got a bit of a shock. I was expecting about £400 ( not sure why)
