Default Lumpy Tickover anyone ?

Noticed when the engine is at normal operating temperature that the tickover seems to wander between 800 and 1000 RPM. It's no big deal, but just wondered if this was normal in these days of precision fuel injection and engine management systems ?

I have something kind of similar... mine generally idles just fine, but occasionally - not managed to replicate the exact circumstances yet - after a brief acceleration and then brake back to a full stop, it will drop down to very low revs and then recover immediately back to the norm.

I had this before I fitted the PRM and the problem went away.

Took the PRM off a week ago and the problem returned for 1 day only.

I'm in no way technical but I believe this may be something to do with the ECU ? The yanks seem to reset them regularly but I have no clue on how to do this.

I'll get my coat now !

Brian suggested that for me when I asked previously, apparently disconnecting the fuse seems to be the easiest way to do it.

However, I didn't do it as I expected that to happen when they replaced my block, but it still happens... maybe I'll try the ECU reset thing on mine...

Aye - mine does this too, but I have a problem with the Management System light too.

Could be a ECU, Fuel filter, or Fuel problem

Well at least Sans does it before he has the PRM on... wonder who will find the cure first
