Default Making More Space in the Boot

My boot is virtually constantly full. I have to carry around, high-vis vests, a high-vis coat, rigger boots, gloves, glasses, hard-hat, a million different leads for the various PLCs/HMIs/Simicodes i work with, plus usually two laptops. This leaves little room for anything else i have to carry about that day i.e pc, monitor etc etc.....

If i want to go shopping all this shite has to come out, and its getting a bit tedious to be honest.

So i was thinking about ditching the Spare wheel for a can of that instant reflate stuff, and stuff my boots, and other safty shite in the space left there. IF i pulled off the carpet to the other side, is there space there two?

I was thinking of sticking the carpet back on with velcro, that way i wouldnt have to constantly pop out the plugs which keep it in place, is this do-able or not?

Has anybody got pics of either side of the boot with the carpet off? Any other suggestions?

thanks for taking the time to read this

Luke

This photo of my Cusco rar brace shows you the space behind both those panels.
On the passenger side the fuel tank is raised up into that space a bit, and I believe the fuel pump is back there as well. I wuld just stick to removing the space saver and leave it at that.

You might also be able to ditch the tool kit holder and store the tools in a smaller bag to help generate some more room

Thanks allot for the photo mate, really appreciate it.

Think i may well ditch the kit holder.

Does the brace make much difference?

My pleasure Luke

I found in conjunction with the top front brace yes it does stiffen the car a little, but on it's own I wouldn't bother

just dont ditch, the locking nut key, if you ever get a flat and the tin wont reinflate it, the AA cant even take the tyre for repair etc.

For our recent trip I ditched the tool kit holder, wrapped the tools in an old tea towel & placed them inside the spare wheel, takes about half the space there including the handbook (minus hardcover). Also removed the spare wheel carpet cover. Freed up large amount of space.

What about hanging stuff behind the seats?
You can get a couple of laptops in there easily enough.
Put stuff in a platic box - thats all I do as I have the same issues.
Quick and easy to lift out one box and place in passenger seat, or garage.

Bin the spare, get 2-3 cans of puncture repair.
Bin the tool kit holder.
Wrap the tools, cans and any other infrequently used bits in towels and stick them where the spare was.
Voila - one very big empty boot!

i found the best thing to do remove the floor tool box thing - and stash all the tools in the spair wheel - that way you get another half foot depth of boot space
