Default MAP sensor info in FAQ..

in the FAQ there is now this statement:

'Some MY04 and MY05 cars that have a problem with engine stuttering can get the MAP sensor replaced free of charge. Please contact your dealer for details.'

anyone know more about how this has come about..
i'm looking at replacing mine due to some hesitation problems.. has something come up with honda...? awaiting dealer to call me, yes still waiting...! would be good to have some background info to it though...

I'm sure someone more well informed than I will setp in soon...

MAP = Manifold Absolute Pressure sensor. It tells the ECU how much fuel to add into the engine.
The sensor sits on top of a very hot piece of kit (intake manifold) and over time, they gradually degrade. It can cause a few things, but most noted is kangaroo-ing of juddering when in traffic / queues.

Honda know that they drgrade over time (i think there was a bulletin sent out to Honda dealerships about them), and are normally replaced under warranty. (I took my MY03 in aound August time, told them what I knew, and they put it through as warranty work.

Is your car still under warranty? If so, simply take it in, tell them what's wrong, and tell them you think it's the MAP. Chances are, they'll replace it. (They replaced my whole MAP system, as the MY03 has the old pattern sensor).
If it's not under warranty, chance your arm, you never know! Not sure how much they are to replace though. Engineer said around £200 for mine.

HTH
