Default Marks S2000 Thread

After looking at Robs (rsmithinfo) thread I thought I would start my own and add to it as time and mods go on, To be honest its not the most interesting thread but here we go!! the story so far!!

We bought our S2000 about 18 months up grading from our toyota celica

the celica was a good car but a bit down on power and front wheel drive,

When out looking at another car we set a few rules, it had to be sporty, not front wheel drive, and it must be a Jap car due to reliability, oh and the missus had to like it!! Budget £8000..

Subarus and Evos ruled out (missus not keen) and a good skyline was out of budget we went looking at an RX 8, not that impressed and I had heard a few horror stories,

Anyway, we drove passed a honda dealer and called in looking for a civic type r, back to a front wheel drive but they looked great to drive and not to down on power for us,

Walking around the car lot and we came across a 2001 black S2000 (a car I forgot about to be honest) and we fell in love

I couldnt believe how much they had come down in price and after a test drive we had to have it.

this is a photo of the car the night we got it home

To be honest we jumped in head first I wish I knew about S2ki and did some research before buying but its been a very good car,

anyway on to the Mods.......................

First thing to go was the Halfords after market gear knob, no Idea what the previous owner was thinking when he bought this, found a genuine honda one on ebay for £12.00.

few months later went to the jap show at santa pod and had a go down the strip

only got a time of 15.1 seconds on the strip, (down to my driving )

Anyway a few months later and we started attending the yorkshire meets, and meet some great people including JD and Rob from Garage R,

First Meet bought a front strut brace off JD for a bargain £10.00 !!!!

And also picked up an AEM induction kit from Ebay.

Next We bought some OEM 16" winter wheels (thanks to JD again)

For when this happens again !!

Then we got some naughty number plates, I know, I know,

from this......

to this......

Next big job was the roof. The old one was patched up quite bad by the previous owner, anyway it was how can say 'worn'

After a trip to garage R........

Also had the car under sealed and gearbox and diff oil changed, Big thanks to Rob for this.

The Last mod so far....

Set of 17" Rotas, Only got them because we fancied something different than the OEM 17"s again thanks to Rob for putting me on to the seller... and waiting at his garage all saturday morning while I travelled over to collect them...

Oh I also painted the callipers red while the wheels were off.

hoping to do the suspension in the new year

thanks for reading,

Looks good with those Rota wheels.

Why is it a "trend"? That makes no sense at all.

Been a while since the last update, nothing compared to the work some of you guys are doing

But anyway......

HKS exhaust and de-cat pipe,

And having a good read on some of the other posts regarding different tyres available went for a full set of Falken FK 452's all around

also a new TCT, Thanks again to Rob at Garage R (best mod so far )

cannot comment on the tyres just yet only had them on a few days, but it has been a bit wet in Manchester and I am not dead yet!
so its a good start

The HKS looks nice Mark, how is the sound as that is a potential option for me.

I like the the sound, its very easy to live with, nice low burble driving normally, then gets a bit loud when you give it the beans

I think the de cat pipe makes it sound a bit 'raspy' a very high revs, and I cannot hear the AEM as well as I could with the standard system,

Also I get a bit of a drone for a second of two just as I am coming to a stop at traffic lights etc etc,

But over all Im very Happy
