Default Meets section

Firstly, I think having a sub-sub-sub forum is a good idea, so people aren't traipsing through endless threads to find a current one.

However, I do think it would be nice if they weren't moved the minute the meet was over.

A bit of post match discussion and the thread staying live for a while would help to generate a little more interest, particularly in the monthly meets, where people who may only come on here once a week may have missed something.

We'd love to get a few more people along to the North Yorks meet and have had comments previously about "I didn't realise there was a regular meet".

Anyway, enough waffle - thoughts?

Totally agree, on a few occasions the thread has being moved while the meet was still in progress

I don't think I had even made the meet by the time the thread was moved

There are specific meets section mods

Would you like me to move this thread to the meets section in order that they difinitely see it?

You could then discuss with them there

Chris.

If it gets moved, it might get moved again too quickly!

If you're happy to leave it here, then I think I'd prefer that.

Just wanted to try and prompt a bit of discussion about whether thread hanging around for longer might generate more interest.

Or any other ideas to get people along to meets.

Ok, will leave it.

I've posted a link to this thread on the meets forum instead.

Chris.

Makes it a PITA for people who setup regular meets by cutting and pasting some of the details from a previous meet.

How about moving the threads a month after the meets?

Hiya Dan,

Firstly - many thanks for your comments.

The reason why we created the "Past" section for meets (my idea) was so that the "Current" section was not full of previous events making it difficult for people to see what is actually coming up. People were always having to "Bump" their meets to get them back onto the first page.

I understand your requirement for having the meets hanging around for a little longer in the main section but by doing so people would have to look in two places to try and find the meet. Would you not find this even more annoying?

I will try and not be so efficient in future (I blame the OCD).

Minvo.

Hiya eSem,

Just a sugesstion, and please don't take this any other way...

But why not have two tabs/windows open? This is how I deal with all the organisation for the meets (a window open for future meets, a window open for past meets, a window open for the schedule, a window open for the calendar, etc). Unless your trying to do it on a mobile phone (in which case.. ouch!, I feel your pain)

I know this does not answer the the big question that I am a little too efficient (OCD) at moving the threads when the meet has finished but at least it would make it easier to organise another meet.

Hope this helps to tide the "upset minvo thread".

Minvo

Yep I agree totally. Also agree with Dan's post, its good to move past threads out of the forum in the sub sub forum but some time should pass this allows people to 'see what they missed' and allows people to 'discuss the meet' publicly.
