Membership
I have read about membership, and being only one day into this forums I am impressed. I am a self confessed forum junkie myself, and I admin a few bb's here and there. I would be willing to pay something for membership here, as a support to the community, however i am not clear of what benefit apart from keeping the forums up it would give me?
something about picture hosting and an email address, yeah, the discounts..... tell me more?

I am maybe not the most qualified to answer this*, but...
There was a big argument about membership on the main S2000 forum a while back - some really heated discussions about the fact that many people expected nothing more than a free service knowing that advertising and sponsorship pays for much of the day-to-day running of the site.
So, okay, many people feel that this is justifiably a free service to all, which is fair enough.
On the other hand (from my point of view), if a guy bumped into me in the street and said "Hey, I know where you can get brand new S02's for

Nicely said, Graham.
I didn't begrudge stumping up $20 when cthree first introduced the membership scheme a few months back - I had obtained so much useful information from the forum that I would probably have never otherwise got to know about. I don't use any of the membership features, to be honest.
When it comes to renewal, I'll probably upgrade to Gold Membership simply because I appreciate the existence of this board and the resources and wealth of knowledge and information it gives us all access to. Plus it must be pretty expensive in terms of hardware to keep the site running, especially with the growing membership. cthree et al can hardly be expected to fund it out of their own pockets.
Go on - stump up $20 - I think you'll agree in a month or two that it was worth it

Don't forget either that as a Gold Member, which is a $50 dollar a year subscription, you also get unlimited photo storage with the ability to link pics to other sites. That's on top of all the wealth of advice you'll get here from any numbers of pros in all fields not just S2000 related stuff, which is invaluable in itself.
I'm parting with my S in the new year and have joined a couple of other good boards in preparation for my new wheels but I have to say in all honesty that there's a maturity on this board which you just don't seem to find anywhere else, and it will be a sad day if we ever lose that quality. Moderation on car boards seems to be either bordering on the evangelistic or non-existant. There's a fairly relaxed attitude here with intervention from mods seldom seeming to be needed, with the vast majority of posters knowing where to draw the line.
The board is growing at an enormous rate and we all know how much it must cost to keep pace with demand by constantly updating hardware etc. The S2000 is produced in far too limited quantities to ever attract the big aftermarket parts manufacturers and sponsorship alone will never meet the demands of this site.
If you like what you see, support it and contribute!
