If you're new to S2ki UK, you may have missed this thread at the top of the main S2000 UK page.

It explains that S2ki needs funding and that this is done through membership. It also explains the benefits membership brings.

Here is a copy of a message about recent site "outages" from one of S2ki's founders, "cthree", which reminds people about the economics of the site

Pete

"We have had 2 web servers online since yesterday and the load balancer is working great! A web server in the cluster can crash or be taken offline without the slightest hint of an issue.

We have 2 more servers prepped and ready to go online tomorrow bringing the total to 4 in the load balanced cluster. Our capacity requires about 1.5 of these servers to run a maximum speed. In other words we can lose half of them and you wouldn't even notice!

The S2Ki network now consists of 6 servers with 9 P3 and P4 CPUs and a total of 10GB of RAM. That's a lot of hardware!

We just dropped $5K this month on insurance and hardware. It would be cool if some of the regulars who haven't taken out a membership yet would do so soon.

Thanks for hanging in there while we make this transission. Our new configuration should provide ample capacity and reliability for at least the next year. We can now do maintenance and expand capacity furthur without any interruption to service.

Thanks again"

Ah, the old UK Club Member problem!

Sorry, Chris there are two different issues here. The UK Members Club is something Paul(UK) had going separately and this has now become merged with/affiliated to S2ki. Therefore the Members Club loisted at the top of the UK S2000 front page has nothing to do with your membership of S2ki (nor therefore cthree)

If you want to go on the UK Club list, just send a PM to Paul(UK)

I agree with ukliam, and have also paid my dues today.

This site has been so informative and fun, thanks to the input of the member community.
