What happened to it ?

Smoke? Rod escape? Did it start to knock?

Would be good to compile a list symptoms from engine failures so we can get a picture of why they fail at 100k+.

125k now on my MY00.

It's nearly 10 years old, I wonder if it will hit 130k?

Mines just shy of your mileage.

Most failures seem to be throwing a rod.

Started to knock slightly, stripped it down and 4th cylinder was badly scored, rings screwed.

If I do it I'll get the block dipped, decked if needs be, and rehoned to OEM spec.
Can you rehone the FRM cylinder of the S2000?

I thought it was not possible.

Isn't the national average on a family/work car meant to be 9K-12K?

I think with a car like the S you should be more concerned on service history and condition then mileage then look at mileage. Depends whether you want a car to cruise around on a summer day in or a car to thrash around all over the shop.

Yes you can,

60deg cross hatch pattern the same as many other honda engines.

Shame about the knocking/cylinder scoring s2000Tim

If the engines are throwing rods it is probably due to worn bearings yes?

Rehone is one thing, rebore is something else.

A badly scored liner will require a rebore and a rehone plus oversized rings.

Although that's pretty standard, I am not sure what the FRM does to the mix and whether or not the consensus is to simply get new liners.
